You’re lucky: among thousands of options, you find some reliable companies. They offer to send samples, you like what you see, and now you want to start production. You plan to produce hoodies in 5 different colors. The MOQ (minimum order quantity) per color and style is between 150 and 300 pieces. The cost per hoodie is $18–$25. Let’s say the price is $20 and the MOQ is 150 pieces per color: 150 hoodies × 5 colors × $20 = $15,000 Now, there are also factories offering low MOQs — for example, 20 pieces per color at $15 each: 20 × 5 × $15 = $1,500
💡 Don’t overspend in the beginning — especially if you don’t know yet whether it will work.
Take small steps and always keep some cash in reserve.
You decide to use Shopify, which is a great platform with lots of advantages. Once you start reaching out to agencies, you’ll see a wide range of offers — from $4,000 to five-figure quotes. I’ve even heard offers up to $50,000 — and yes, for brands with millions in revenue, a store at that level might make sense.
But not for you — not at the start. You can get a very solid store built for under $1,500 or we can help you with that as well. I personally built my first store for $900, and it worked perfectly fine.
Don’t overspend. You want to sell — not just buy.
Most agencies aren’t really interested in working with new brands — unless you already have serious revenue and a high ad spend.
And if they are interested despite that, it might be because they’re not very good. It’s easy to burn a lot of money on ads that don’t convert — so be extremely careful. Your best option?
